The Hoggman Highgrove is a superior Lutyens bench, combining the elegant whimsy of Lutyens’ timeless design with the handsome durability of premium teak. Complete with an ornate backrest and scrolling arms, the Highgrove adds a romantic accent to any garden or green space.

The Highgrove is crafted from grade A teak, which is SVLK certified and sustainably sourced. Teak is a timber that requires little to no maintenance and is exceptionally resistant to the elements due to its naturally high oil content. The Highgrove Lutyens bench can be maintained with the most basic of care, providing you with a piece of furniture that can last a lifetime.

Sir Edwin Lutyens’s work was made famous throughout India where his unmistakable style can be seen on iconic monuments and palatial buildings. The Hoggman Highgrove is reminiscent of these buildings and suits gardens with a similar exotic flavour just as much as traditional English gardens. Whatever your taste in garden design, the Highgrove will add a unique and historical flourish.

Standing at a height of 1.04m and with a width of 1.66m, the Highgrove offers ample room to seat three people. The Hoggman Highgrove is available in two sizes and can be purchased with a range of accessories, including an inscribed plaque using our inscription service.

The Hoggman Highgrove was photographed on location at East Riddlesden Hall, a beautiful 17th century manor that overlooks the River Aire in West Yorkshire. The Highgrove photographed is our 4-seater 1.96m version – please note that the 1.66m model is smaller than the bench pictured.

Our garden benches are crafted using a combination of modern and traditional woodworking methods. Mortise and tenon joints are used to hold the larger pieces of timber together, while the bolts ensure your bench can be assembled and disassembled with ease. Mortise and tenon joints have been used in woodworking for thousands of years. A simple and traditional way to connect two pieces of wood, these joints are something of a staple for furniture making and contribute to the robust construction of our garden benches.

The Highgrove requires very little maintenance due to its naturally high oil content and will weather to a silvery-grey patina if left untreated. To retain the natural warm colouration of teak timber, we recommend an annual coating with our premium teak oil. This helps prevent the natural oils from evaporating, revitalises the timber, and ensures your bench is protected from splitting and warping. To ensure your garden bench lasts a lifetime, take a look at our care guide which contains some handy tips for maintaining teak.
