The Gatcombe brings you right into the heart of nature with its circular frame designed to encompass tree trunks up to 1m in diameter. This tree bench allows you to enjoy the natural shelter provided by the boughs of the tree whilst also creating a relaxing social gathering point for gardens and parks.

The Gatcombe is crafted from grade A teak, which is SVLK certified and sustainably sourced. Teak is a timber that requires little to no maintenance and is exceptionally resistant to the elements due to its naturally high oil content. The Gatcombe will provide you with many years of enjoyment, and with basic care, it can even last a lifetime. This teak tree bench can seat up to six people and will provide a beautiful seating spot for public green spaces and arboretums. Its rounded frame and softly sloping back give it an organic feel, beautifully blending with the calming natural landscape.

To keep it looking its best, the Gatcombe can be purchased with our Hoggman Premium Teak Oil, available as a convenient spray-on application. For extra security outside, browse our range of ground anchor kits for soft earth, concrete and paving slabs.

The Hoggman Gatcombe was photographed on location at East Riddlesden Hall, a beautiful 17th century manor that overlooks the River Aire in West Yorkshire.

If you require some extra help putting your bench together, download our comprehensive assembly guide for step-by-step instructions. The Gatcombe can accommodate the smallest of saplings to the mightiest of oak trees. When fully assembled, the Gatcombe has an outer diameter of 2m, an inner diameter of 1m, an outer circumference of 6.3m, and an inner circumference of 3.1m.

Our garden benches are crafted using a combination of modern and traditional woodworking methods. Mortise and tenon joints are used to hold the larger pieces of timber together, while the bolts ensure your bench can be assembled and disassembled with ease. Mortise and tenon joints have been used in woodworking for thousands of years. A simple and traditional way to connect two pieces of wood, these joints are something of a staple for furniture making and contribute to the robust construction of our garden benches.

The Gatcombe requires very little maintenance due to its naturally high oil content and will weather to a silvery-grey patina if left untreated. To retain the natural warm colouration of teak timber, we recommend an annual coating with our premium teak oil. This helps prevent the natural oils from evaporating, revitalises the timber, and ensures your bench is protected from splitting and warping. To ensure your garden bench lasts a lifetime, take a look at our care guide which contains some handy tips for maintaining teak.

All of our Hoggman premium teak benches are covered by the Garden Benches Direct 3 Year Guarantee.
